The reason that the island is called lı “Sapli ” is that the road extending from land to the island consists of rocks.

Sapli Island has been taken under protection as a protected area which has a long history and interesting structure dating back to 1500 BC. The island was formed by the accumulation of ashes scattered around by the impact of a large volcano eruption in the Aegean Sea. Moreover, it is possible to see this ash layer which is dominant in the structure of the island even today.
