TrackName: Esencay Caglayanlar Stream Track
STARTING POINT: It starts from the Upper Esencay with an altitude of 390 m, 9 km before the Karacasu district on the Nazilli road.
ENDPOINT: Upper Esencay Mahallesi
DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF THE TRACK: The track consists of two parts. 8 km very easy track and 16 km medium difficulty track.
FEATURE OF TRACK: 4-5 km of the track consists of a smooth slippery ground with a creek edge, the rest consists of pathways and stabilized roads which are not flat and difficult to descend.
RESTING PLACES: You can take the first break after 1-hour walk before you start climbing the riverside. You can make a second break at the big waterfall where you will return to 750 m altitude. You should make the third break at the time of landing on Asar Hill. After the third and last break, the march ends in Upper Esencay which is the starting point again.
THINGS TO SEE
Caglayan Natural Park; vegetation, fauna, waterfall, climate and high location, forest and mountain ecosystem, eco-tourism, landscape beauties, landscape values and recreational potential is untouched.
The site is located in the Mediterranean Phytogeography Region. Light-loving (sclerophil) vegetation is common. The area is dominated by red pine and plane tree. Wild Boar, Fox, Rock Lizard, Great Green Lizard, Blind Snake, Black Snake, Saka, Starling, Ala Crow, Nightingale, Blackbird can be seen. Approximately 40 large and small waterfalls along the creek accompany you. If you go in the autumn, the leaves of the plane and chestnut trees give you postcard poses. If you go in the spring you can collect ivy and asparagus. If you go in the winter you will see Babadag and Karınca Mountain as wearing white wedding dresses. Especially you can see Karacasu Dam from Asar Hill.
At the end of the walk, you can taste Karacasu pitta bread in Karacasu city center and then visit the pottery workshops. Do not return to Aphrodisias, the city of Caria, dating back 5,000 BC, which was included in the UNESCO’s Heritage List in 2017.
TRANSPORTATION: Karacasu is located on the border of Denizli, southeast of Aydin. The track is 9 km to Karacasu, 32 km to Nazilli, 77 km to Aydin and 197 km to Izmir.
